The West Ham footballers advanced to the quarterfinals of the English League Cup. The London club, in whose jersey Tomáš Souček played the whole match again, eliminated the winners of the last four years of Manchester City on penalties. Coach Pep Guardiola’s charges lost the League Cup for the first time since 2016.
In addition to Souček, another Czech national team member, Vladimír Coufal, got on the field in the West Ham jersey, and he has already recovered from a groin injury. He started the game as a substitute player in the 82nd minute. Alex King is still out of the game due to coronavirus.
Liverpool also advanced to the quarterfinals, beating Preston’s second-league 2-0. Last year’s finalist Tottenham won 1-0 in Burnley, for which Matěj Vydra played 60 minutes.
