Vietnam to Host First Southeast Asia Esports Championship (Source: VNA)

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Electronic Sports and Entertainment Association (turn), in collaboration with Vietnamese tech company VNG, will host the first ever Southeast Asian E-Sports Championship (SEA EC) 2021 in virtual form.

In a press conference held the day before, Nguyen Xuan Cuong, president of Viresa, specified that the event seeks to promote exchange between electronic sports players in Southeast Asia, in addition to creating opportunities to raise the level of this sector in the region.

He detailed that the championship will have three disciplines, namely PUBG Mobile (mobile game of the real battle type), League of Legends: Wild Rift (multiplayer battle arena video game), and Valorant (multiplayer first-person shooter video game).

The qualifying rounds are expected to take place in November and December in each country, with the 52 top teams representing the 10 esports federations in Southeast Asia that will compete in the final in January 2022.

According to the general secretary of Viresa, Do Viet Hung, two of the three disciplines of the competition will be included in the XXXI Sports Games of the region (SEA Games 31), scheduled to be held in mid-May 2022./.
