32-year-old Azarenka is playing for her 22nd title on the WTA Tour and her first this season. “She has a lot of experience so it will be a difficult match,” said Badosa.
After her victory nine years ago, Asarenka is now in the final in the California desert for the second time.
Badosa has only triumphed at the tournament in Belgrade this year in her career. At the press conference after the semi-final triumph, the 23-year-old said: “I still can’t believe it, it’s an incredible feeling.”
Due to her success in Indian Wells, she climbed into the top 20 in the world rankings for the first time on Monday.
