Veterancy and complicity on the court

The complicity between players on the basketball court can be very useful to develop an intelligent game and confuse the opponent. Also, if you add the mix between experience and youth, you can build a very valuable strength in a team’s roster.

Veteran Adrian Garcia (Madrid, 1985) is going to fulfill this season its sixth consecutive year in the Basket Navarra, although in the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons he already played with the Navarrese team, coinciding with the promotion to LEB Oro. At his feet he has a long history in Spanish basketball. Your partner Pablo Yárnoz (Pamplona, 1996) completes his fifth season in Basket Navarra this year. The guard arrived at the Pamplona club in the 2017-18 season.

The two of them already have years of experience on the basketball court and their motivation does not wane. “I have always had and it does not fail me. My motivation is to go out and win every day, I don’t need much more ”, explains forward Adrián García. “In the end, when you compete at this level you don’t need extra motivation, just to play basketball, if you like it, you go out to win and compete, you don’t need much more,” explains Pablo Yárnoz.

From last season, Yárnoz and García are the only players in the squad, without counting on the coach Jordi Just. For this course, Basket Navarra has made nine incorporations. The two veterans assure that gaining atmosphere has not been complicated. “They have a very good attitude to train and it shows that we are young. People have a lot of ambition, there is a good base on which we can build things, ”says Yárnoz.

It could be challenging to have to almost start over in the locker room, but it is not something that worries them. “This year I am the oldest and I do not see much difference compared to other years. The teammates are always at the top and have maximum involvement in the team, there are no great challenges as veterans ”, explains Adrián García. “We all come to the same, to compete. We all do our best and if the team is doing well that means that individually each one is doing well, ”says Yárnoz.

A NEW ROLE IN THE TEAM

Last season, captain Iñaki Narros said goodbye to professional basketball. Now, the Madrilenian assumes that role. “In the end the boys know that I am older and that is why they respect me. But it is something that also has to be earned on a day-to-day basis, I try to do it by working and being a professional, so that they see that this is the way forward ”.

Even so, Pablo Yárnoz also fulfills a role as captain in the locker room and on the court. “A few years ago I was the rookie and you see that the players are having stripes. Not only because you are older, they will respect you, you have to do something else in the dressing room, on the court ”.

The team of Basket Navarra also stands out for its youth, which contrasts with the seniority of others. “It is a little more than responsibility but we make the demand ourselves. Maybe I have to throw a little of the young people, advise them, talk to them. Maybe be a little more aware, ”says García.

Both teammates have shared their entire career in Basket Navarra with Iñaki Narros from Navarra and they assure that he has left his mark. “The old curmudgeon is missed. At the end training and in the matches he put us cane, he demanded of all of us. Pablo and I try to do the same, it is always good to have such a player in the team and he is missed ”, says García.

A WAY OF LIFE CALLED BASKETBALL

On the basketball court the connection between the players has to be clear. Adrian Garcia he knows how to read games very well and guide his players. Pablo Yárnoz brings great intensity both in attack and defense. “Pablo is a hard worker, very competitive. At the level of making costumes very well. In addition, he has competitiveness in defense and rebound, he gives us many things ”, explains Adrián García.

“It is very good veteranIt goes quiet, it goes unnoticed, but when you need help it comes in handy. When it comes to playing he is very clever, he gives us a lot on the court and off ”, says Yárnoz.

Both have been playing basketball a lifetime and can boast that they are enjoying their passion. “I really like sport, basketball at these levels gives you the opportunity to meet people. We have Catalans, Americans, Nigerians. You are getting to know places and pavilions. It’s something that fills you, ”says Yárnoz. “We are privileged to be able to live from what we like the most. It is my greatest hobby, I can live on it “, says Captain Adrián García.

A MORE DEMANDING SEASON

Basket Navarra has already three games played. In all three he has not yet seen victory, but in the last one they left good feelings. Adrián García and Pablo Yárnoz claim to find advantages for their team. “I’m good at making pineapple, being off the courts, making a team, creating bonds of friendship that later help everyone to play easier,” explains Yárnoz. “There is a very healthy environment, young boys with the earning of working we all get along very well. We are a very young team, we can run and push a lot. Little by little we will get the identity we are looking for ”.
