Unfortunately, they remain up to date: calls for a boycott against the World Cup in Qatar

At this point I have already spoken several times about the need to strengthen membership rights in an association on the one hand, and on dealing with the undemocratic system in Qatar on the other. We have now received news from Bavaria that members of the master club have submitted applications for the general assembly that will take place in three weeks’ time. Among other things, the general assembly, as the highest body of the registered association, should decide that no further contracts will be concluded with Qatar after the sponsorship contracts have expired.

Lawyers can of course argue about whether this is simply possible or what legal consequences such a thing can have. I myself am a lawyer with all my heart, but for me it is not about a legal assessment, but about the fact that in this case members are not just worried about their association and its reputation, but rather go on the offensive. In any case, I wish the members who show political greatness and responsibility all the best for their request.

It’s a good example too. After all, many of us fans are club members, want or have to defend our club externally and at the same time fight internally if it is appropriate. One can only hope that FC Bayern shows greatness and does not come up with the idea of sanctioning the club members mentioned. As we know, you can get a stadium ban at Bayern just because a banner says that you don’t like Monday games.

“Sport free!” From the fan lawyer.
