These are the Cuban baseball players nominated for the MLB Golden Glove

Three Cubans are among those nominated by Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Golden Glove award for the 2021 season.

This year’s announcement by Rawlings Baseball was a bit unusual, as it was made via Twitter, with posts for each position. This year the Golden Glove will be awarded on November 7.

In this sense, three Cuban players could be worthy of the important recognition, two of them in left field and a first baseman.

Left field, two West Indians were finalists, they are, Randy Arozarena and Lourdes Gurriel Jr., who are in the same category with Andrew Benintendi, and since there are two Cubans in the same category, which increases the chances that a Cuban reached the award.

For his part, at first base is Cuban Yulieski Gurriel, who at 37 is competing against Matt Olson (OAK), winner of the award twice.

The three Cuban-born baseball players are on a roll, as they are also nominated for the Silver Bat.

It is important to mention that the last of the Cuban players to win the Golden Glove was Luis Robert in 2020, during his debut campaign, while the first to do so was Orestes Miñoso, chosen in 1959 along with Al Kaline and Jackie Jensen.

And it is that Cubans are giving the size in the big leagues, since yesterday it was known that Cuban player Adolis García was selected as the 2021 American League Rookie of the Year.
