The spell is broken: Beerschot records first league win against Seraing thanks to Holzhauser and substitute Noubissi | Jupiler Pro League

Jupiler Pro LeagueIt has happened! On match day thirteen – a magical number on the Kiel – Beerschot finally took his first victory in this football competition. The strong playing Rats wiped the floor with a weak Seraing and gave themselves a big boost in the battle for preservation.

Beerschot started the six-point match sharply. Dom, back in the starting line-up after an injury, created the first threat early on. After visitor Mikautadze put home goalkeeper Vanhamel to work, Beerschot took matters into his own hands. That resulted in three dots of chances in a good five minutes. Holzhauser (twice) and Dom, however, were unable to capitalize on those opportunities.

Not much later, Beerschot got what it deserved: a goal. When Holzhauser continued to chase Seraingkeeper Dietsch, the latter simply handed in the ball. Holzhauser only had to tap in. Gift or not: it wasn’t a problem for Beerschot. For the first time in 630 (!) minutes, the Purple & White were able to score again at home (the previous goal for their own people fell on 11 April against Ostend). Even more: Beerschot took the lead for the first time this season. Double party at the Kiel! We also went to rest with 1-0.

After the 1-0, there were still opportunities for the men of trainer Torrente. We recorded creditable to excellent attempts by Vaca, Holzhauser, Caicedo, Shankland and again Vaca. In between, keeper Dietsch saved his teammate Kilota from an own goal. It must also be said that Dietsch recovered nicely after his blunder.

Twee goals Noubissi

All in all, Beerschot played by far his best match of the season. Only, the Antwerpers let Seraing live far too long. And then it remains to watch out with guys like Maziz and Mikautadze on the other side. In the final phase, substitute Noubissi Beerschot took away all uncertainty. Fifteen minutes before the end, the Cameroonian should always have operated the completely detached Holzhauser, but he chose the difficult road… and then hit the 2-0 hard against the ropes. Shortly afterwards, Noubissi also made it 3-0.

The fact that orchestra master Holzhauser missed a penalty kick in injury time was no more than a footnote in the story. Beerschot has scored his first three-pointer and showed that it is far from dead.
