Phenomenon of the early 2010s, Derrick Rose had made a splash by becoming the youngest MVP in history. Will we ever see a player like him again? According to Paul George, the answer is yes, because he is already playing in the league!
Far from being favorites against the Clippers, the Grizzlies have yet made a nice upset in their second game of the season. Passing through the Staples Center, Taylor Jenkins’ men have indeed won 120-114 in a very close meeting. Memphis can thank Ja Morant for this, author of 28 points and 8 assists to ensure the victory of his family:

Paul George compares Ja Morant to Derrick Rose
An impressive performance, which left his opponents speechless in the evening. Asked about the No. 12 Tennessee, Paul George did not go by four ways: the former Murray State has something to quickly become part of the league. “He’s explosive. He wants to go left, we knew that, but he’s just so good and so fast. He’s just explosive, electrifying. I’d compare him to like D-Rose. I guarded him my rookie year, the Indy-Chicago, and guarding Ja is very similar to how D-Rose was.”

“He’s explosive. He wants to go left, we knew that, but he’s just so good and so fast. He’s just explosive, electrifying. I compare him to D-Rose. I defended him in my rookie year, in Indy-Chicago games, and keeping Ja is very similar to what D-Rose was. “

This is not the first time that PG13 has associated the interested party with the MVP 2011, and the fact that he reiterates his words shows that Morant follows a linear progression. With 32.5 points and 7 assists on average over the first two games, he started off on a monstrous basis! If his scoring numbers are bound to drop over the season, he may finally be able to take Memphis to the playoffs. The boy has talent in his hands, it remains to show it in the post-season.
Being compared to Derrick Rose is always an honor, and that should make Ja Morant very happy. It’s up to him to justify this confidence by winning in 2021-22!
