The YD 120, Bliss is the first leader of the Ibiza Joy Sail. The largest boat in the fleet, without being the fastest, was the winner of the coastal race in compensated time. In real, the Swan 115 Moat was the fastest to go around the island of Formentera after traveling, in just over three and a half hours, the nearly 40 nautical miles, but it would be second overall after offsetting times and the Swan 115 Shamanna, third.
After not being able to validate the crossing between Mallorca and Ibiza last Thursday due to the lack of wind, on this first day through the Pitiüsas islands the wind did accompany, blowing from the southwest of about 11 knots of intensity, with which the Race Committee decided to do the coastal this same Friday.
The starting line was set up in front of the Port de la Savina of Formentera, as it usually happens in Maxis and Superyachts regattas, the boats were leaving in a staggered way every two minutes in reverse exit, being the Swan 80, Dark Horse in crossing the The line first followed by the YD 120, Bliss, and the Swan 115 Shamanna and Moat.
The route consisted of going around Formentera, leaving the islet of Espardell to starboard (right) and arriving at the lighthouse at the entrance to the port of Ibiza. In the first section in the direction of Es Cap de Barbaria the different boats were taking positions. The Moat was the one that decided to sail closer to land, while the Shamanna did it through the center, that was the only moment when the two fastest ships in the fleet would cross. But the Moat would soon mark the path and he already reached Es Cap de Barbaria, in the southern section of the island in front of the Mitjorn beach, the Moat and the Shamanna stood out. The passage through the Far de la Mola only confirmed the positions: Moat, Shamanna, Bliss and Dark Horse, the Swan 80 was the one that by size closed the fleet. The ascent towards Espalmador next to the cliffs and the arrival was a carousel, in which the positions would no longer vary.
Looking ahead to the weekend and with the coast already disputed, different short tours will be carried out off the coast of Ibiza.
