Latvian Hockey Federation

The Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF) has decided to stop all its competitions, but the further course of the two tournaments will be decided on Friday, informs the LHF.

It has already been reported that on Wednesday, the government ruled in an emergency order that live sports events will be banned from October 21 to November 15, with exceptions for higher-level sports.

The order states that international and top league sports competitions in team sports will be allowed in person, in which only professional athletes participate (persons who have an employment contract and are preparing for and participating in sports competitions for an agreed fee). The LHF has decided to stop all its competitions, but the future of the Optibet Hockey League (OHL) and Women’s Championship will be decided on Friday in the championship directorates.

It has also been decided to ban and abolish all sporting events, with some exceptions. One of the permitted exceptions that may take place in person will be sports competitions (including official pre-competition trainings) included in the calendar of sports competitions of international sports federations for adult national team athletes (team sports games – also for junior national team athletes from the age of 16).

The exclusive right to play sports in person will apply to the above-mentioned cases if they are included in the list of permitted sports competitions published on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science and take place without spectators.
