The Huelva Badminton World Cups are promoted in Denmark

The Organizing Committee of the Huelva 2021 Badminton World Cups, headed by the mayor, Gabriel Cruz; the president of the Spanish Badminton Federation, Andoni Azurmendi; the president of the Andalusian Badminton Federation, Carlos Longo, the General Secretary for Sports of the Board, José María Arrabal; the Councilor for Citizen Participation and Sports, María Teresa Flores and the General Director of Sports of the Board, Isabel Sánchez, have traveled to Denmark, in order to present one of the biggest events on the circuit at the BWF Thomas and Uber Cup Finals badminton international, the World Cup event.

The visit also served to hold a meeting with the president of the World Badminton Federation, Poul-Erik Hoyer Larsen; and the general secretary, Thomas Lund, in order to close the final preparations for the celebration of the XXVI edition of the Total Energies BWF World Championship from December 12 to 19 at the Carolina Marín Palace in Huelva, as well as the Senior Championships of the BWF that will be held in this same space from November 28 to December 4.

In this regard, Gabriel Cruz has highlighted “the importance of this international presentation of the Huelva World Cups in Denmark, as it gives us a unique opportunity to promote the event throughout the badminton community worldwide and thereby achieve greater number of assistants to our city “.
In this sense, Cruz has assured the president of the World Federation that the event in Huelva “will be remembered pleasantly not only because of the organizational level that we are going to demonstrate but also because of the support of the public.”

Likewise, the mayor explained that “the visit has also helped us to get to know the facilities of the CERES Arena, home of the 31st edition of the Thomas Cup and the 28th edition of the Uber Cup, the biennial international badminton championship between teams. male and female nationals of the member associations of the World Badminton Federation, where we have held various meetings with other areas of the BWF in order to close details of the World Badminton Championships in Huelva. “

For his part, Azurmendi highlighted that “we are delighted to be able to share how the preparations are progressing with the top BWF representatives and in an event as important to the world of badminton as the Thomas and the Uber Cup, the World Team Championships , events from which we can draw many positive conclusions “.

Azurmendi pointed out that “also to be able to convey that Huelva is looking forward to the celebration of the World Cups, in the same way that the world of badminton yearns for athletes to take to the track. We must not forget that it is one of the five most watched events in the world and the Absolute World Championship is going to reach 640 million households around the planet. “

The Badminton World Championships are one of the most important annual sporting events on the international sports calendar, awarding badminton athletes with the highest score, on the same level as the Olympic Games.
The city of Huelva will host the XXVI edition of the TotalEnergies BWF World Championship, where some 20,000 visitors will be able to see how the 400 athletes of 35 different nationalities perform during the week.

The World Championship is also an excellent multimedia platform with the most advanced media, capable of reaching 614 million households around the world. In Spain, the competition will generate 55 million hits and an economic return of more than 4.3 million euros.

Likewise, this event includes the celebration of the BWF Senior Championships previously with the participation of more than 1,500 athletes of 50 different nationalities, between 35 and 80 years old, in different categories divided by age. A special event that is held biannually with various events, symposia, conferences and ceremonies, becoming a good preparation for the main competition and an important incentive for the local economy.

The Organizing Committee of Huelva 2021 is working hard to guarantee the success of the event and that all visitors can enjoy the city and all the leisure areas parallel to the competition, among which are: more than 45,000 m2 of commercial area and a fanzone attached to the pavilion, a stage with performances, food trucks and exclusive VIP areas.
