The Heat resist the Hornets to the end | NBA

New show of force from the Heat who defeated a great team from Charlotte. The Floridians first passed an 11-0 to calm the ardor of the Oubre-Washington pair in the first quarter. But it is especially the remarkable entry of Tyler Herro who gave a first comfortable advantage to his people, with in particular a basket at 9 meters at the buzzer of the first quarter (33-22).

Tyler Herro continued his show (18 of his 26 points at the break) and he was then able to count on the Butler-Adebayo tandem to take over, all without neglecting the show as on Jimmy Butler’s 2 + 1 shortly before. the break (64-48).

Charlotte regained her senses thanks to her outdoor address after returning from the locker room, when Miles Bridges and Gordon Hayward chained two 3-point missiles each to help bring James Borrego’s team back in the game.

The midfield alley-oop between Ish Smith and Miles Bridges then the counterattack dunk of Cody Martin thus maintained a touch of suspense 12 minutes from the end (84-75).

The Bridges-Hayward tandem briefly managed to bring the Hornets back below 10 points (99-91), but the Heat never let their guard down, like their “franchise player”, Jimmy Butler, imperial in the finale alongside Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro.

Winners 114-99, the Floridians are now four wins in five games.

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

Miami’s one-way first half. Erik Spoelstra’s troops suffered in the second half but always knew how to preserve this advantage acquired during the first. Renowned for their athleticism, Bam Adebayo’s teammates outclassed their opponent, with a lead of up to 26 points in the middle of the second quarter (55-29). Another edifying figure to underline the Heat’s domination in the first half: the Floridians dominated the battle on the rebound with 34 catches at 16!

The state of mind of the Hornets. Even if they were in great difficulty in the first half, James Borrego’s troops never gave up, under the impetus of the Bridges-Hayward tandem in particular, and delayed the deadline for a long time, until the locals do not find the thread.

TOPS/FLOPS

✅ Tyler Herro. In line with his start to the season, the back of the Heat made a sensational debut in the first half, knocking out the Hornets almost on his own. Out of the bench, Tyler Herro has indeed scored 18 points and 4 assists in 14 minutes. Enough to put his people on the right track.

Bam Adebayo. Honored last night, the pivot was once again essential in this victory. Beyond the stats (26 points, 19 rebounds) and his many angry dunks that punctuated the meeting until the end, the pivot brought his resentment. Decisive alongside Jimmy Butleer at the end.

✅ Jimmy Butler : Another boss game with 32 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists in 36 minutes. The one who showed the way on both sides of the floor, with aggressiveness initially at the start of the game and the necessary lucidity at the end of the match to permanently kill the hopes of the Hornets.

✅ Gordon Hayward. Impressive in the way he took his responsibilities at the end with his 3-point missiles and his aggressiveness (16 of his 23 points scored after the break). Charlotte’s “go-to-guy” helped keep the pressure on the Heat until the last minute, already a small feat.

⛔ LaMelo Ball. Lonzo Ball’s little brother hardly existed. Clumsy shooting (2/14 including 0/5 3-point), the leader of “Buzz City” gets away with 6 assists to go with his 6 points and 5 rebounds. Clearly insufficient, while his back-up Ish Smith was not more inspired.

⛔ Duncan Robinson. While Tyler Herro regales, Duncan Robinson is for his part in the hard at the start of the season. The back shooter of the Heat was again in great difficulty in this match, in his favorite exercise in particular, with an ugly 2/11 (including an air ball), his worst percentage in a match since the resumption (18.2% ). Duncan Robinson turns 31.3% behind the arc at the start of the year. Worrisome for a player who turned 40.8% success last season.

Golden Bam in the spotlight

As is the tradition in Miami for every Team USA player who returns from the Olympics with a gold medal, Bam Adebayo was honored that night. At halftime, the Heat had prepared a short clip in honor of their pivot, crowned at the Tokyo Games, and also placed a banner on the ceiling of the FTX Arena alongside Tim Hardaway, Alonzo Mourning, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James. Bam Adebayo celebrated the event with a big performance.
