The Sanitas Foundation, with him Higher Sports Council, the Spanish Olympic Committee and the Spanish Paralympic Committee They have launched a unique initiative in the world. The organization of some Inclusive Games in which Olympic and Paralympic athletes will compete together.
The championship will take place in the High Performance Center of the Higher Sports Council of Madrid next Thursday, October 7, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This is the culmination of the more than 10 years that the Sanitas Foundation has been working in the search for inclusion in sport.
170 athletes, Olympians and Paralympians, will participate in these first Inclusive Games. The objective of this competition is to send an unequivocal message to the world: that the inclusion of people with different capacities within sport and society is already a fact.
Athletes such as former basketball player Felipe Reyes, athletes Sara Andrés and Fernando Carro, or swimmer Antoni Ponce, will be some of those who will compete on this day.
In addition, great figures of the national sport, such as the athlete Chema Martínez, the badminton player Carolina Marín, the canoeist Saúl Craviotto, the jumper Ana Peleteiro or the former cyclist Pedro Delgado will be present cheering on their teammates. A competition that you cannot miss.
Competition schedule and sports
The afternoon of Thursday, October 7, will go down in history. And it will be the first time that some Inclusive Games, in which Olympic and Paralympic athletes will participate. The competition will have the following schedule:
- 16:00 Opening ceremony.
- 16:30 Statements for the media: Iñaki Peralta, CEO of Sanitas; Alejandro Blanco, COE; Miguel Carballeda, CPE; José Manuel Franco, CSD, Saúl Cravioto and Sara Andrés
- 16:30 Start of competitions.
- 19:15 Closing ceremony.
In the presentation ceremony of the I Inclusive Games, which took place at the headquarters of the Higher Sports Council, the disciplines that will be part of the competition were announced:
- Triathlon (FETRI).
- Badminton (FESBA).
- Judo (RFEJYDA).
- Taekwondo (RFET).
- Swimming (RFEN).
- Athletics (RFEA).
- Wheelchair Basketball (FEDDF).
