the Esme raid is back for a good cause

From October 5 to 7, the Air 204 Mérignac-Beauséjour Detachment (DA 204) organized the 5e edition of the environmental equipment support squadrons (Esme) raid, open to all French military bases. The DA 204 takes care of the reception of participants, transport to the site of the raid – the departmental domain of Hostens – and accommodation.

The competitors are in teams of three and each base can present two teams. There had been no raid in 2020, but this year, 21 teams took part in the event. For two and a half days, the competitors took part in ten sporting events (climbing, archery, mountain biking, etc.) allowing them to accumulate points so that the jury could establish a ranking.

The awards ceremony took place on October 7 at DA 204, in the presence of Colonel Marc Olivier Crossonneau, Commander and Air Brigadier General Xavier Mirebien, Commander Basal. “You have shown a good state of mind for this competition, a unifying event but also a bearer of values,” said Colonel Crossonneau. “Each kilometer traveled has raised 1,800 euros which will be donated to the Foundation for social works in the air.
