A great experience fulfilled the Correntino David Gutiérrez in his debut in the main draw of the Master of Sweden, stage of the week of the APT Padel Tour circuit. Forming a duo with Relis Ferreyra from Chaco, the local couple made up of Thomas Johansson and Jonas Björkman won, two world tennis myths that shine on paddle tennis.
This main draw match went down in history: it was the debut of two 1998 Davis Cup tennis champions, Swedes Johansson and Björkman.
And this match of the 16th finals, the Gutiérrez-Ferreyra duo won 6-2, 6-3 against the experienced Johansson-Björkman, in one of the most attended and most important matches of the initial round.
This competition in Sweden is played at the Hede Padelcenter complex in the city of Kungsbacka (near Gothenburg), a venue that last July had three important competitions for this professional paddle tennis circuit.
And in the second round, the Gutiérrez-Ferreyra duo will face Federico Chiostri and Gonzalo Alfonso for a place in the quarters (this Thursday at 8:30 in Argentina).
It is the fourth week for Gutiérrez on this international circuit, after having participated in tournaments in Oeiras (Portugal), Monaco and Seville (Spain).
Weeks ago, Gutiérrez participated in two tournaments by invitation. The first of them was in Venezia (Italy), where he reached the semifinals of the Veneto Padel Cup, while days ago, already in Sweden, the Corrientes played another tournament called Studio Padel, in Stockholm.
“The first weeks I played with Juan Manuel Restivo from La Plata, who will now seek to add a game with another couple and it is good for me to play my backhand. That is why playing with Relis comes very much now,” said David from his stay in Sweden.
In the previous participations in the APT Padel Tour tournament, the Gutiérrez-Restivo duo reached the round of 16 in the three tournaments (Portugal, Monaco and Spain), starting in qualifying stages, always falling with pre-classified couples and adding points for the ranking.
