The Braves dominate Race 1 of the 2021 World Series – Play.it USA

And we are at the World Series, which begins in Houston, where the hosts are given slightly favorites by analysts, for the advantage of the field and the greater experience in the playoffs (third WS in five years).

We disagree, as the rotation looks very vulnerable and the Atlanta attack at least as dangerous.

On the bench is the oldest clash in WS history: 72-year-old Baker against 66 Snitker.

The Astros roster sees the absence of McCullers, who has not recovered from the injury suffered with the White Sox, while in the Braves we have the entire outfield coming from the trades, with Soler beating DH and leadoff, while Rosario, leadoff in the NLCS , moved to the fifth spot.

For race 1 Valdez for Houston tries to repeat the fantastic exit in Boston, while Atlanta sees Morton, former luxury, in the third WS with the third different team.

In the first inning, Soler becomes the first leadoff in World Series history to beat an HR to start Game 1. Riley beats an RBI double and Atlanta leads 2-0.

In the lower part, Houston also has his chances, but leaves the bases full without scoring.

In the second Valdez still in trouble concedes two singles to start, then two outs lead to Soler’s RBI, and then the bases fill up but Valdez comes out without further damage.

Morton, on the other hand, gets away with 3 consecutive outs, the first of which is a comebacker from Gurriel who hits him in the leg.

In the third 2 further points for Atlanta, before the change on the mountain, leaves the Astros 5-0 down and with the need to tire the bullpen in an almost lost game.

In the lower part after the K in Altuve, Morton comes out with an injury, which will be understood to be the fractured right fibula, due to Gurriel’s ball in the previous inning (!!), with Morton who then eliminated 3 batters after the injury, further stressing the broken bone.

In its place comes Minter, who concedes a couple of hits in the fourth before Swanson makes a mistake on a potential double-play ball and closure of the inning.

At 5-1 with men on the corners and 1 out, Houston finds himself having a great chance, but fails to capitalize.

Minter also continues in the fifth for 2.2 IPs and 43 launches, a new career high. On the other side, Odorizzi is launching 2.1 IP.

Luke Jackson returns in the sixth, abused on a couple of occasions by the Dodgers, but whom Snitker wants to recover for this series, and who launches 1.2 IPs without points, then the left-handed Matzek and Smith continue without jolts for the final 6-2.

Morton on the roster has already been replaced by Kyle Wright, who however worked almost exclusively in triple A in 2021.

With Ynoa out injured last week, Snitker has failed to promote anything more suitable for the finals.

In game 2 Urquidy on the mountain for the Astros will have a huge responsibility, because going down 2-0 at home would be dramatic for Texan hopes.
