Taylor Pendrith still on top

golf/story">

Canada’s Taylor Pendrith started the weekend round strong on Saturday, building on the momentum he started the day before at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship on the PGA Tour.

The Maple Leaf representative handed out a 65 (-6) card by virtue of a boguey and seven birdies, four of them consecutive, from the seventh to the 10th pennant. His performance was not as dominant as the day before, when he cut 10 punches at par of 71, but only Ben Kohles and Brian Gay finished their workday with fewer shots (64).

Thus, Pendrith sits atop the overall tournament standings with one round to go, three strokes ahead of his closest competitor, New Zealander Danny Lee. The latter presented a card identical to that of the leader thanks to a course punctuated by eight birdies and two bogeys.

A second Canadian, Adam Svensson, will start the final round among the top-10 golfers. To do so, he showed a record of 68 for a third consecutive day. He did not commit any fault while wedging three birdies.

Two other Maple Leaf members, Adam Hadwin and David Hearn, are still in the tournament as well. The first is in the 37th place with a cumulative score of 208 (-5) and the second is in 50th place with a total of 210 (-3) shots.
