Before receiving the MRI results from Dak Prescott, the vice president of the Dallas CowboysStephen Jones indirectly admitted that the team felt a collective nervousness regarding the possible severity of the sprain to the quarterback’s right calf.
“Every time your quarterback has to have an MRI there is a little nervousness, but we know that Dak is a guy who likes to compete and is strong. We are optimistic and we think we will get good news, ”Jones said Monday at 105.3 The Fan, via Pro Football Talk. “But we will have to see what happens, and we will soon find out. We are positive and believe that he will be ready to play against Minnesota.
Prescott was injured on the final play in Sunday’s 35-29 win over New England in overtime. The moment occurred during his 35-yard touchdown pass to CeeDee Lamb. After limping to the locker room, he appeared at his post-game press conference in an orthopedic boot.
Prescott completed 36 of 51 passes for 445 yards, three touchdown passes and an interception against the Patriots. On Monday, the league MVP nominee was nominated for the FedEx Air Player of the Week award for week six.
MRI reveals promising prognosis
Not long after Jones’ radio interview, reporters covering the Cowboys began receiving information on Prescott’s results. The team apparently got some good news: The calf sprain isn’t the kind of injury suffered by wide receiver Michael Gallup, who has been out of action since he was injured in the season opener. There is optimism that Dak will not miss a game and will be able to play after the bye week in week seven for Dallas.
“The Cowboys plan is for Dak to be available Oct. 31 against the Vikings, according to a source. Some calf sprains lead to long absences at times. He will rest and then he will rehabilitate during the bye week ”, reported Michael Gehlken, del Dallas Morning News.
“At The Star complex there is some optimism about Dak Prescott’s sprain. Although they want to see how he reacts in a week, it doesn’t look like he’ll miss four to five weeks like Gallup did. It just sounds like a perfect week for a break ”, reportó Nick Eatman, from the team’s official website.

Despite a visible limp, Prescott doesn’t seem concerned about his injury, which came nearly a year after the two-time pro-bowler fractured and dislocated his right ankle.
Joking that reporters will “have fun” with his new affliction, Prescott vowed he “will be fine” before the next game, a Sunday Night game against Minnesota.
