The head city of the San Martín department begins to beat in the heat of the orange. This coming Thursday, November 4, and for the first time, it will be the great host of receiving the opening of the 2021/22 season of the Provincial Basketball League. The Athletic Club Sastre will be the epicenter of the Santa Fe party with the initial match of the tournament when the Academy meets Trebolense. The rest of the first date will be played the next day. In total, there will be 17 participants.
The academic stadium will dress up next Thursday and will have all the eyes of Santa Fe basketball on it. The protocol activities that merit the situation will take place in the preview of the confrontation between Atlético Sastre and Trebolense, confirmed for 9:30 p.m.
According to what has been established, Roberto Monti, president of the Santa Fe Basketball Federation, will be in charge of the opening speech. Then the traditional initial jump will come, which will be in charge of a former player from the departmental club who will be honored by the sports entity. The meeting will also be attended by Daniel Gianoglio, vice president of the Federation and current president of Oeste Santafesino, and Luis Silvano, part of the organization of the competition, among others.
The inauguration in the house of the most present
At the time of defining the opening game of the brand new season, two institutions raised the request to the Santa Fe Federation to be the hosts. Atlético Sastre and Olimpia de Venado, a history of basketball with a National League championship (1995/96 season defeating Atenas de Córdoba) and even a South American League title (1996) defeating Corinthians from Brazil – an achievement that gave him the chance to participate in the Intercontinental Club Cup–, they began the fight to stay with the opening game.
The organization, after an analysis of the applications and a vote in between, determined that the merits to welcome him to the tournament had more weight in favor of Atlético Sastre. The balance ended up tilting in favor of the entity of the departmental head for two fundamental reasons: of the 17 teams participating in the current season, The Academy is the one that has been participating in the competition for the most consecutive participations (10 years). But in addition, it was also considered that the Western Santafesino Civil Basketball Association (ACBOS) will celebrate its 80th anniversary in December.
This is how the zones were
On this occasion, the Federation determined to define the zones according to the geographical location of the participating clubs. Thus, those from the center-north of the province were left in a single ciborium and the rest – the center-south of Santa Fe – underwent a lottery to carry out the two final groups.
In this way, the North Region (zone A) was made up of Atlético Tostado, San Lorenzo de Tostado, Huracán de San Javier, Unión de Avellaneda and Racing de San Cristóbal.
For its part, the South Central Region (zone B) is made up of Trebolense (El Trébol), Gimnasia y Esgrima de Santa Fe, Olimpia de Venado Tuerto, Atlético Sastre, Firmat Football and Ben Hur de Rafaela.
And the South Central Region (Zone C) will be played by Americano by Carlos Pellegrini, Brown by San Vicente, Argentino by Firmat, Almagro de Esperanza, Atenas by Venado Tuerto and Unión de Sunchales.
