Bàsquet Girona has revalidated the Catalan League LEB title after winning this afternoon in El Prat (56-76) in a match played in Fontajau, with about 2,500 spectators and with Marc Gasol presiding over the match from the box. All in a very even duel until Albert Sàbat, who finished with 17 points, said enough at the end of the third period.

The veteran captain of the Girona team, designated MVP of the match, has been the real architect of the victory and has carried the team on his shoulders when he was most needed. After reaching the break with a tie at 36 and seeing that things remained tight at the beginning of the third period, Sàbat made two triples and gave two assists to make the team led by Carles Marco take an eight-point lead in the end of the third quarter (48-56).

And the difference in favor of Bàsquet Girona has ended up consolidating in the last 10 minutes, also thanks to Sàbat. He has been making a two-point basket, causing an attacking foul on the opponent, and scoring another triple to shoot the 14-point lead (53-67) with five minutes left. From here, those of Carles Marco have endured the difference to lift the title of the Catalan League LEB before starting next Saturday the league on the court of Juaristi.

Eric Vila, with 17 points, and Olaf Schaftenaar, with 10, also stood out. Both were very active in the first half to keep the team inside the game and prevent the rival from escaping on the scoreboard.
