With DeMarcus Lawrence unable to play for a while and with only 19 days until the closing of the pass book of the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys they could make a play to shore up their defensive line.

That play, according to speculation by Alex Ballentine del Bleacher Report, focuses on a possible deal with the ombudsman Detroit Lions Michael Brockers, who is capable of playing inside and out and would be a significant improvement over the current Cowboys roster, including third-round rookie and defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa and Brent Urban, a veteran free agent.

“The inside of the defensive line isn’t putting up a great defensive run either,” wrote Ballentine, who also criticized the Cowboys’ decline in total sacks. “They’re giving up 4.2 yards on each carry, which brings them 14th on the table. Rescuing Michael Brockers from the depths of the Detroit Lions would be a play that would benefit both of them… The Lions should sell before the transfer market closes and they may have the right player for the Cowboys.

Brockers Background

Brokers, who was picked 14th in the 2012 draft, has amassed 409 tackles (259 solo), 50 tackles per loss, 63 hits to quarterback and 29 sacks over 10 professional seasons divided between St. Louis (Los Angeles) and Detroit.

Brockers, who turns 31 in December, is in the middle of his first year with the Lions, passed from the Rams in the offseason in exchange for a seventh-round draft pick from 2013. He has had a total of 14 tackles, two tackles for loss, a hit to the quarterback, and a sack in his first five games at Motor City.

Just for comparison: the aforementioned Osa Odighizuwa has 11 tackles (six solo), three tackles for loss, eight

hits to the quarterback, and two sacks over five games as well. A college-level defensive tackle, he has progressed like defensive end under Cowboys defense coordinator Dan Quinn, who has returned with a very good impression from what he saw at UCLA.

“I’m very happy with how he’s doing and I think he’s going to keep making a lot of progress because he has the right speed for a defensive end,” Quinn said in late September via the official team website. “That’s why we put it inside and that’s what it showed at the university. Now it’s just a matter of taking those skills and making it what we think it can be. “

Lawrence will be out for “over a month”

The $ 105 million defensive tackle broke the fifth metatarsal of his foot during practice on Sept. 15 and “probably” will miss another “month and a bit more,” revealed club vice president Stephen Jones. Jones also mentioned the diagnosis of second-year defensive tackle Neville Gallimore, who is booked due to injury after dislocating his elbow in August.

“Fortunately we are going to get it back,” he said. Jones about Lawrence on the show “K&C Masterpiece” of radio 105.3 The Fan on Monday, October 11 on the site Dallas News. “It is still too early to know when it will be, but it will surely be several games after closing before I can return. Most people would agree that he was one of our best defenders before his injury and it will be great when we get him back. We must continue to weather the storm. We’re going to get Dorance Armstrong back before closing and that will be great. We will also take back Trysten Hill and [Neville] Gallimore. So all of these names will be great additions when they come back and so we look forward to them. But Gallimore and Lawrence will take longer and it will be at least a month and a bit before we can get them back. “
