Rome: Cristante, Mancini and Zaniolo on the renewal table

After Pellegrini’s signing, there are three names on Pinto’s diary. And for January we are working to please Mourinho on the midfielder

After Pellegrini’s renewal has been filed, after months of rather complicated negotiations, there are four names on Pinto’s agenda. Indeed three plus an identikit: the identikit is that of the midfielder that Mourinho already wanted in the summer and that, for now, corresponds to the profile of Zakaria, the names are instead those of Cristante, Mancini and Zaniolo (in alphabetical order) who will be armored with a contract renewal.

The Italian axis

The defender and the midfielder are Pellegrini’s two deputies, Mou often names them and considers them, with the captain, the first interlocutors within the group. Managed by the same agent, Riso, very friends off the pitch, even with their respective families, they have a contract until 2024 and their renewal is not urgent as a deadline, but as a centrality in the project, yes. Mancini, above all, earns around 2 million and Roma are willing to pay him a salary as vice captain. There is no hurry, real negotiations still no, interviews yes. And Pinto will soon be negotiating. Zaniolo’s speech is more complex: Nicolò already earns over 2 million plus bonuses, comes from two serious injuries and is only now getting back into shape, yet renewal seems a priority. Zaniolo is the most sought-after player by sponsors, his jerseys are the best-selling, he represents an absolute asset on and off the pitch as, in Trigoria, there have been none (Mou excluded) since Totti’s time. And from this began the negotiations for the renewal, despite the current agreement expiring, as for the other two, in 2024.

Around January

At the same time, Pinto is working to bring that midfielder much requested by Mourinho to Trigoria. Faded Xhaka, Roma have freed themselves from the salaries of Pedro, Pastore and Nzonzi and have more freedom of maneuver than a couple of months ago. Villar and Diawara could leave (more the first than the second, also for a matter of costs) and the name that continues to be in pole is that of Zakaria of Borussia Monchengladbach. The Swiss has not yet renewed, despite the German club having offered him a new contract several times, and Roma continues to follow him closely. Also because in a month he will turn 25, the age is the right one, the experience too: neither too young, nor on the avenue of the sunset. Exactly what Mourinho is asking.
