INDOSPORT.COM – The following is the evaluation of the Head of Development and Achievement of PBSI, Rionny Mainaky, after Indonesia’s failure in the 2021 Sudirman Cup quarter-finals.

Indonesia was defeated by Malaysia’s resistance in the 2021 Sudirman Cup quarter-finals, Saturday (02/10/21) early morning WIB. Rionny Mainaky also gave a critical evaluation.

In the women’s singles sector, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung was able to tackle Kisona Selvaduray through the rubber game, and recorded a very thin final score, namely 22-20, 18-21, 21-19.

In line with that, the women’s doubles pair, Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu also managed to beat Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan, the final score was 22-20,17-21, 21-18.

“Gregoria has gone all out and can score points. He can handle that pressure and get out of the pressure to get points,” said Rionny Mainaky.

“Greysia / Apriyani also appear with the experience they have. Although they were overtaken, they were able to manage the tension more calmly to be able to get a winning number,” said Rionny.

Unfortunately, in the men’s doubles sector, Marcus Fernaldi/Kevin Sanjaya who were expected to contribute points, were instead eliminated by Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik, scoring 12-21, 15-21.

“Gideon is actually already in high spirits. Meanwhile Kevin, who was waiting for the balls he liked, didn’t show up. As a result, his strategy didn’t come out all the way, and the opponent already knew how to anticipate.”

While in the men’s singles, for Rionny, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting has tried to be patient and put out the best performance. However, he finally lost when he faced Lee Zii Jia, the score was 11-21, 16-21.

“In the second game, Ginting felt like he had it. But again his attack strategy didn’t penetrate. Of course we will evaluate more from him,” said Rionny.

Especially in the mixed doubles, Rionny said it was only natural that Praveen Jordan / Melati Daeva Oktavianti could overcome Hoo Peng Ron / Cheah Yee See. In fact, Praveen/Melati lost, 19-21, 21-10, 16-21.

“If in the third game, Praveen/Melati were more daring, the results would be different. They have to be consistent. In the second game, they were good, why did they lose in the third game. They have to go all out,” finished Rionny.

On this occasion, Rionny Mainaky, representing PBSI, thanked the athletes for their struggle, and apologized to the public for not being able to bring home the 2021 Sudirman Cup.
