Rehia Davio, first Polynesian international judo referee

Rehia Davio has won her bet! He got his international referee certificate. “After all these years spent skimming all the tournaments, and other refereeing seminars in which I could participate in Oceania (Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, New Caledonia), across the world (Baku 2017, Mittersills 2018/2019) and of course in Tahiti, I am proud to be able to tell you that yesterday I became the 1st Polynesian international Judo referee ”

Passionate about judo since she was 5 years old, Rehia Davio has gone on to compete. At 41, he decided to swap his kimono for the role of referee. He enforces the rules for big matches of the Oceania Judo Union federation.

He finally applied for the post of president… and got it. He then launches himself a new challenge: to pass the qualification n ° 1 to referee the biggest competitions of judo. Challenge that he has once again taken up.

On her Facebook page, Rehia Davio left a message of encouragement: “This fantastic journey, started in 2008, was far from being a long quiet river, many were the obstacles I had to face, m ‘adapt and react or readjust. The victory is all the more beautiful and tasty today. But it won’t stop there, because if today, a little guy lost in the middle of the Pacific like me succeeded, anyone can do it and today it is my duty to be able to give this opportunity to everyone Oceanians (Tahitians among others, but not only) who would like to follow this path… The road is long and hard but the game is worth the effort, be sure ”.
