Putra Nababan accuses LADI of being unprofessional

There is no need for this kind of correspondence administration problem to occur.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Member of Commission X of the House of Representatives (DPR) Putra Nababan strongly criticized the unprofessional performance of the Indonesian Anti-Doping Agency (LADI) which resulted in the red and white flag not flying on the podium at the 2020 Thomas Cup event. The achievement of this Indonesian team has been awaited since the last 19 years.

As is known, the red and white flag did not fly because of a letter from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) which stated that Indonesia did not comply with the enforcement of anti-doping standards because it did not follow Test Doping Plan (TDP) made in 2020.

Putra stated that this kind of correspondence administration problem did not need to happen. Moreover, in 2020, Indonesia and many countries in the world have minimal competition due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“How difficult is it for LADI, as an Indonesian anti-doping agency to write to WADA, to notify the conditions of competition in Indonesia, which has stopped due to the pandemic, so that it cannot meet the 700 sample requirement,” he said in a written statement received. Republic, Monday (18/10).

Regarding the change in the management of LADI, which he said was considered to have hindered the response to WADA’s request, Putra stated that this could not be used as an excuse. Because, he continued, the change in management occurred at the top level. Meanwhile, the middle level, should still be able to work. According to him, the reason is a contrived thing.

This unprofessional performance has damaged Indonesia’s good name, harmed the national team and players and disappointed the people. “In fact, these are administrative matters, which should be handled,” said Putra.

Putra also appreciated the quick steps taken by the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) who handled this problem, by writing to WADA. Then, WADA immediately responded well. According to him, this shows that this can be handled.

Many anti-doping agencies in other countries can write to WADA. “I’m confused why LADI can’t. Could there be a problem with the internet network in his office? Or don’t have a WADA email address yet,” said Putra.

Regarding the performance of the LADI that went wrong, Putra stated that the DPR and the Government would evaluate the function of LADI in the Draft Law on the National Sports System (RUU SKN) which is currently being discussed. In addition, Putra also reminded all parties to work professionally to build a national sports system.

“When we all work professionals, it will build the optimism of the people. We work for the people, not for ourselves,” he said.

So, he asked, do not cause pessimism among the people, with unreasonable reasons such as administrative.
