Peru vs. Argentina: Ricardo Gareca has not beaten Argentina, the only team in South America | National teams

The Peruvian soccer team has a tough challenge this Thursday in the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers: visit Argentina in a match on the 12th date of Conmebol’s qualifying for the next World Cup. The Incas must add to avoid losing ground in the standings, but the Albiceleste is undefeated at home.

Ricardo Gareca has begun to show that he can get Peru out of the crisis and put it back in the fight for a ticket to Qatar 2022. Although the stumble in Bolivia, the previous day, reduced the Peruvian energy with which it had been coming back.

The Argentine is playing a special match against Albiceleste, not because he is the national team, but because he has a pending debt in his career in charge of the Peruvian team.

Since the ‘Tigre’ Gareca is in command of Peru, he has faced Argentina three times. The first duel was in Lima for the Qualifiers, in 2016, and ended in a 2-2 draw. The following year they met in La Bombonera, distributing points with a monumental Pedro Gallese to establish 0-0, a key result for Peru’s World Cup aspiration.

For the last time they were measured in 2020 for the current Qualifiers. Lionel Scaloni’s team had a good performance and won 2-0. That means that Gareca has not yet been able against Argentina, being the only one in South America that he has yet to defeat, as he cut the streak against Colombia in the last Copa América.
