Panama prepares for the Cali 2021 Junior Pan American Games

The isthmus will have 43 representatives in 16 disciplines in international competition

The Cali 2021 Junior Pan American Games will be held from November 25 to December 5, and Panama has 43 representatives, among them the youth taekwondo player Héctor Arosemena, who is preparing at the International Center for High Performance of Taekwondo (Ciartkd) in Boyacá, Colombia, to carry out a training base for the Cali 2021 Junior Pan American Games.

Arosemena, under the guidance of his coach Yldemaro Peña, will finish the training on November 23 at the specialized taekwondo center in South America that has the latest technology in electronic bibs and facilities for strength work, plyometrics, control stops and biomedical services. .

Arosemena will compete on November 26 at the Miguel Calero Coliseum, home of taekwondo, in the 58 kg category.

“We have managed to get 14 athletes to concentrate in Colombia and once they finish their training they will join the games. Panama will compete for those dates in 16 disciplines; those that we cannot get and who train abroad are preparing here to give their best in competitions ”, explains Damaris Young, president of the Olympic Committee of Panama, adding that the isthmus will have representatives in individual sports, such as swimming, cycling , badminton, among others.

Athletes between the ages of 14 and 22 will participate in the Cali 2021 Junior Pan American Games. The medalists who achieve gold will qualify directly to the Pan American Games to be held in Santiago de Chile, 2020-2023.

“This gives athletes the opportunity to compete in a large event and one of the most important in our region,” he stresses.
