Pallacanestro Trapani announces that its athlete Celis Taflaj, absent during the last championship match between the grenades and the Mantua Staff, was hospitalized on Sunday evening at the Sant’Antonio Abate hospital in Trapani due to a strong gastrointeritis.
The player underwent specialist clinical examinations that revealed appendicitis for which the need for removal surgery was evident.
During his hospitalization Celis Taflaj was also subjected to a molecular swab which registered his positivity to Covid-19. Following this and in full compliance with health protocols, yesterday afternoon the player was immediately transported to the Covid Hospital in Marsala where he was promptly operated on.
The removal surgery was perfectly successful. The athlete is still hospitalized in Marsala and recovery times will be evaluated after the player is discharged.
Following Taflaj’s positivity to Covid-19, the entire team of the Trapani Basketball team immediately placed itself in voluntary isolation.
In the morning today, the whole team performed a molecular swab which was found to be negative for all.
The team will resume training regularly starting tomorrow Wednesday 20 October.
The situation is however in progress and will be constantly monitored by the medical staff of Pallacanestro Trapani.
