Not Xavi, but joker Jan Ceulemans to Barça? “I’ve already thought about it” | Belgian Cup

Ceulemans, who was a trainer at Westerlo for no less than 11 years, enjoyed it to the fullest. “I often come to watch,” he said during the half-time of Westerlo-Antwerp. “I don’t live that far, so when I have time I’ll come and have a look.”

“Westerlo is still a family club. There is a new owner, but the feeling with the players, the trainers and the supporters has always been present.”

Ceulemans guided Westerlo to cup victory in 2001. “Back then I had very good football players – boys with character. The current Westerlo also has that, but in my period it was a better football team.”

Still, he sees Westerlo go far in 1B. “Antwerp seemed to have forgotten that Westerlo is the leader in 1B with a 7-point lead. Westerlo didn’t get much across the centerline in the beginning, but after the opening goal, confidence gained.”

However, the 2-1 win could not convince Ceulemans to consider a comeback as a trainer. However, there is a vacancy at Barcelona. “I know, I’ve already thought about it,” says 64-year-old Ceulemans with a joke. “I’ve been out for 6 years, I’m going to stick with that.”
