NFL: the Packers without their defensive coordinator against the Cardinals on Thursday

GREEN BAY, Wis. –Green Bay Packers defense coordinator Joe Barry will not be traveling with the club for Thursday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals due to COVID-19 protocols.

The Packers have been preparing for this event ever since Barry tested positive. They formalized everything on Wednesday. Barry’s responsibilities will be split between defensive backs coach Jerry Gray and inside linebackers Kirk Olivadotti.

Gray clarified that Barry has participated in team meetings virtually this week.

Barry’s absence only adds to the challenge for the Packers (6-1), who will stake their six-game winning streak against the NFL’s only undefeated team. Facing the Cardinals (7-0), the Packers will be deprived of receivers Davante Adams and Allen Lazard, whose names were also included in the protocol against COVID-19 this week.
