NFL legend Tom Brady signs smashing Foxborough return at Patriots expense

Superstar quarterback Tom Brady won his first matchup against his former New England Patriots team. The seven-time Super Bowl champion led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a 17-19 victory Sunday night at Foxborough Field where he had so many victories in his 20 years at the helm of the Pats. He left New England eighteen months ago to join Tampa.

Brady, 44, failed to make a touchdown pass against his former team. However, Brady is now the longest passing quarterback in National Football League history. From the first half, he passed Drew Brees, who had managed 80,358 yards in his career. “In this sport, nothing can be accomplished without great teammates and coaches,” said Brady, who has now pitched for 80,560 yards in his career.

With 55 seconds remaining, a field goal attempt by the Patriots from 56 yards hit the post and secured the victory for the Buccaneers. Many Patriots players and coaches approached Brady after the game and gave him high-fives or hugs. Patriots coach Bill Belichick also congratulated him briefly. The two men then spoke privately for twenty minutes in the locker room.

Brady’s pal Rob Gronkowski, who won three Super Bowls with the Patriots and now plays for the Buccaneers, was absent. He did not make the trip because of his broken ribs.

Brady was greeted with applause from fans as he warmed up. The club aired a minute of footage of Brady’s exploits on the big screen ahead of the game. “It was cool. It was my home for 20 years, my kids were born here, ”Brady said. But during the game, people in the stands at Gillette Stadium booed and whistled whenever he was on the ball. “I’m not going to cry. I got over it all, ”Brady said in an interview on NBC television after the game.
