NFL: Cardinals remain unbeaten as they beat Texans

DeAndre Hopkins caught a touchdown pass against his old team, Zach Ertz caught a touchdown pass with his new team and the Arizona Cardinals easily defeated the Houston Texans 31-5 on Sunday.

The Cardinals remained the only remaining undefeated team in the NFL and raised their record to 7-0 for the first time since 1974.

The Texans (1-6) lost their sixth straight game and were dominated for three quarters.

The Cardinals trailed 5-0 after a slow start to the game, but they set off to win. According to the site FanDuel, they were favorites by 20.5 points.

Kyler Murray completed 20 of his 28 passes for gains of 261 yards. He threw three touchdown passes and one interception for the Cardinals. It was the first theft at his expense since the third week of activities.

Newly acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles Ertz caught a career-longest 47-yard touchdown pass. James Conner added a major following an 18-yard run.

It was Hopkins and JJ Watt’s first game against their former team. These two players became stars in Houston before joining the Cardinals.

Jacob Martin bagged a sack against Murray while he was in the end zone, allowing the Texans to get a safety touchdown. Ka’imi Fairbairn put in a 53-yard field goal to provide the only other points for her team.

Stafford comes to haunt the Lions

Matthew Stafford rushed for 334 yards and completed three touchdown passes against his former team, Jalen Ramsey made an interception in the end zone with five minutes remaining and the Los Angeles Rams inflicted another loss on the Detroit Lions, 28-19, Sunday afternoon.

In the Lions loss (0-7), Jared Goff totaled 268 yards and came close to leading his team to a surprise victory over the Rams (6-1), who traded him for Stafford. in a major transaction last winter.

The Rams were leading 25-19 as Goff led the Lions to the Rams 12-yard line in the dying minutes of the game, making four first downs in third games.

However, Ramsey marked his 27th birthday with another crucial play when he intercepted an imprecise pass from Goff as the latter was being punched by star defensive player Aaron Donald.

Cooper Kupp led the Rams’ offense with 10 catches for 156 yards and two touchdowns, including the one giving the lead

to his team with 13:59 to go in regulation time.

Van Jefferson also scored a touchdown on a pass from Stafford. He has 19 touchdown passes after his first seven games with the Rams.

For the Lions, it is an 11th loss in a row. Their last victory dates back to December 6, 2020, 34-30 in Chicago.

Carr and the Raiders defeat the Eagles

Derek Carr amassed 323 yards from the air and the Las Vegas Raiders defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 33-22.

Carr completed 31 of his 34 assists. He threw a touchdown pass and an interception in his team’s first offensive streak.

The Raiders (5-2) recovered, however, scoring points in the next five possessions. They outscored the Eagles 443-358 in total yards.

It was the second straight win for the Raiders since their former head coach Jon Gruden stepped down on October 11 over offensive emails.

Under interim coach Rich Bisaccia, the Las Vegas squad topped the Denver Broncos and Eagles 67-46 in points and 869-779 in total yards.

The Eagles (2-5) suffered a second straight loss and have lost five of their last six outings.

The Raiders were deprived of the services of halfback Darren Waller and running back Josh Jacobs left the game with a chest injury. Jacobs had 29 yards and a major and six carries.

Fullback Foster Moreau took his game up a notch in Waller’s absence. He caught six balls for gains of 60 yards. Kenyan running back Drake added 69 yards and a major on 14 carries.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts had 18 of 34 passes for 236 yards and threw two touchdowns. Hurts also had 61 yards on 13 carries.
