Neymar to retire from Brazil national team after 2022 World Cup

Jakarta

Brazilian football superstar Neymar reveals his plans at international level. Neymar will retire from the Brazilian national team after the 2022 World Cup.

Neymar made his Selecao debut in 2010. Until now the star player of Paris St. Germain has collected 113 caps with a contribution of 69 goals, a score that only lost to the legendary player Pele (77).

Neymar has competed in two World Cups (2014, 2018) and three Copa Americas (2011, 2015, 2021). However, the 29-year-old footballer’s best achievement ‘only’ led Brazil to win the 2013 Confederations Cup.

With a reputation as one of the best players in the world, Neymar is burdened with expectations of leading Brazil to the world cup trophy. Brazil’s last title was in 2002 or almost two decades.

Neymar will be 30 years old when the 2022 World Cup in Qatar takes place. It seems that it will be the last chance for Neymar to live up to the public’s expectations as well as his dreams.

“I guess so [2022] will be my last World Cup,” Neymar said Metro. “I see it as my last world cup because I don’t know if I have the mental strength to face football again.”

“I will do everything to come well, do everything to win with my country.”

“To make my biggest dream come true since I was a kid and I wish I could do it,” Neymar said.

Currently the Brazilian national team is in a good position to qualify for the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar. Neymar et al lead the CONMEBOL zone standings after winning the first nine qualifying matches. In matchday 10, Brazil will face Colombia on Monday (11/10/2021) WIB.
