NBA – NBA: 76ers suspend Simmons for opening game

Cologne (SID) – The dispute between star player Ben Simmons and his club Philadelphia 76ers from the North American professional basketball league NBA has escalated. The Australian was suspended by the Sixers for “team-damaging behavior” for the first game of the season against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday (local time).

According to US media reports, the suspension follows an argument between Simmons and coach Doc Rivers (60), after which the 25-year-old was expelled from the hall. Just last week, the point guard started preparing for the 76ers’ season. Simmons had previously tried to force a club change through a strike.

Center Joel Embiid had sharply criticized the behavior of his teammate before Simmons’ arrival. “The situation is disappointing, on the verge of disrespect for all the boys who are fighting for their lives out here,” said the Cameroonian. After all, the teams were “always built around him”.

The NBA starts its 75th season on Wednesday night. The start is made by Master Milwaukee Bucks against the Brooklyn Nets. Later, the Los Angeles Lakers around superstar LeBron James receive the Golden State Warriors.
