After ASVEL in the middle of the week, Monaco was able to reverse the trend when they received CSKA Moscow to sign a second success in a row in the Euroleague (97-80).

CSKA Moscow will not keep great memories of its trip to France. Two days after falling on the floor of ASVEL, the Russian club even experienced disappointment in Monaco. However, the European champion club in 2019 immediately imposed its rhythm, starting the meeting with a 6-0 led by Joel Bolomboy (13 points, 6 rebounds). The first ten minutes during which the “Roca Team” suffered greatly, the gap reaching 18 points even before the end of the first quarter. The bar of 20 points did not resist very long to the teammates of Will Clyburn (19 points) but we then felt a wind of revolt blowing on the Salle Gaston-Médecin. Indeed, the protected Zvezdan Mitrovic have entered their match and were able to respond defensively to get closer to twelve lengths before finally finding their locker room with a delay of “only” thirteen lengths.

Monaco cracked CSKA Moscow

In the privacy of the locker room, Zvezdan Mitrovic found the words to re-mobilize his team. This was seen as soon as we returned to the floor. The Monegasques seemed transfigured and then changed the situation. For more than three minutes, teammates Donta Hall (17 points, 10 rebounds) and Danilo Andjusic (16 points) left absolutely nothing to CSKA Moscow. Silent, the Muscovites saw Monaco come back to just one point before moving ahead to approach the last ten minutes with a three-point advantage, which seemed impossible given the start of the match of the “Roca Team”. Totally overwhelmed, CSKA Moscow sank into a one-sided final quarter. Without mercy, Monaco has continued to widen the gap to exceed the bar of ten points in advance and even flirt with those of the 20. It is finally with a margin of 17 points that ASM signs a second success in a row (97-80) to move up to seventh in the standings, with the same record as CSKA Moscow, four wins for three losses.
