MAZATLÁN._ Women’s professional basketball in Mexico is gaining strength every day in the search for greater growth and generating opportunities for fans of blast sports in the country.

With almost a decade of history, this organization, which began as a form of support for women’s sport, has shown progress towards improving conditions for players throughout the country.

In this way, the current president of the LMBPF, Jesus Lopez Garcia, says that after seeing how women’s basketball was lagging behind in society, the decision was made to invest in it and seek to make it grow.

“We decided to start the project of this league because we noticed that the women’s rush sport was loose and forgotten, so we made the decision to support it and here we are,” said López García.

“All this is achieved as part of a growth, of a history that has been forging, which makes the level of this competition is developing,” he added.

In this way, López García commented that in addition, the Mexican League of Professional Women’s Basketball It has become a great option for players who have just finished their studies to continue practicing this sport with a professional appearance.

“At the end of the day, it is to give women an extra, that they have an opportunity so that when they finish their University, they have an option to continue practicing this sport in a professional way.

“Not like before, they couldn’t find where to go, now they will be able to stay active for four years or more playing basketball.”

Heading into its 2022 season, the LMBPF has shown an increase in interest from different cities in the country, which have been interested in getting a place to participate in this competition.

Such is the case Mazatlan, a city that from February will be participating in this contest, showing the growth that this league has developed in recent years.

“For the league it is very important to reach the second most important beach tourist area in the country, because Mazatlan It is a basketball plaza, which has a level and which, I found it strange that they had not joined us before.

“The incorporation of more teams in this tournament means that here we go, the talent is growing and the level improving, because more and more are interested in having a place with us.”

La crisis in the pandemic

For López García, this obstacle was one of the most difficult to overcome, since it diminished in financial matters, where the support was reduced by sponsors and the investment for realization was greater.

“It was not easy. Economic conditions were tough. We did not have the flow of sponsorships as in other years and the investment that was made to control the pandemic, with Covid tests every weekend and its measures, had to increase.

“In addition, many places we could not have an audience, which generates less income.”

However, something good was rescued during this dark period, because during the last season, it was possible to count on the participation of high-level players, who could not emigrate to participate in other leagues due to the restrictions of the pandemic.

“The interesting thing is that we were able to count on high-level players, who possibly could not go to the European Leagues, which were not active this year.

“That allowed the players with a higher level to come with us. One thing for another”.

Finally, Jesus Lopez He spoke about the outlook for this league for the 2022 season, which he hopes can be celebrated with great success, along with the arrival of the new franchises.

“I hope, as I always say, that all teams can finish without a problem because it is not easy. To work together, help them and share the experience with all the existing and new teams ”.
