PHOENIX – Diana Taurasi arrived home in time to see his wife Penny Taylor give birth to a baby girl – the couple’s second daughter, whose first child Leo was born in 2018.
Taurasi took a flight to Phoenix from Las Vegas immediately after helping the Mercury beat the Aces in the decisive Game 5 of their semifinal series. She scored 14 of her 24 points in the fourth quarter of an 87-84 win on Friday night.
The league’s all-time leading scorer jokingly told Taylor in a post-game interview, “Hang on, honey.”
Taurasi already had a plane waiting for her to take a short flight and then a car took her directly to the hospital to see the birth. Taylor gave birth at 4:24 a.m. local time.
