Ligue 1 – Mbappé admits: wanted to leave PSG – Sport

Football world champion Kylian Mbappé, 22, has ended his silence and publicly admitted for the first time that he wanted to leave Paris St. Germain in the summer: “I said at the end of July that I would like to go,” the attacker confirmed to the broadcaster RMC Sport. The world-class striker had been courted by Real Madrid, but at the end of August they were denied PSG with an offer of allegedly 180 million euros. “I asked in July because I wanted the club to receive a transfer fee and replace me,” said Mbappé, whose contract expires in 2022. “But it is not true that I turned down seven offers to renew my contract (in Paris),” he said.

Mbappé had assured the PSG officials, according to his own statement, that he could come to terms with staying: “I told them: If you don’t want to let me go, I will respect that,” said the native Parisian. “I wanted that we part amicably. ” Mbappé moved from Monaco to Paris in 2018 for 145 million euros. On Sunday he lost with PSG for the first time this season, after eight starting wins in the League 1 there was a 0-2 at Stade Rennes. Real Madrid also suffered a setback in the Spanish league (2-1 at Espanyol Barcelona).
