Ligue 1, 12th day – Rennes hung by Troyes (2-2), Briand carries Bordeaux (3-2), Strasbourg and Montpellier easy

Troyes – Rennes: 2-2

The Aube stadium had experienced a close duel between Nice and Marseille in the middle of the week. Sunday, it was just as hooked, but much more spectacular. If Rennes thought they had done the hard part thanks to a goal from Nayef Aguerd… on a corner (0-1, 9th) – you would have guessed it – ESTAC capsized their public by reversing the situation. One man stood out: Tristan Dingomé, passer for Adil Rami (1-1, 38th), then scorer in the heart of a far too passive Rennes defense (2-1, 41st). Dominators back from the locker room, the Bretons saved most of the game at the end of the game, thanks to Martin Terrier, who was trailing 18 meters (2-2, 81st). Bruno Genesio’s men are provisionally fifth, Troyes fourteenth.

  • What we remember: Rennes no longer knows the taste of defeat, Troyes continues to take points.

Ligue 1: what you need to know

Bordeaux – Reims: 3-2

Bordeaux is finally taking a breath of fresh air at home. Author of a chaotic start to the season in front of his audience, the club with the scapular snatched a victory which will perhaps be foundational, against Reims (3-2). While the Girondins were led to the break after a goal from Hugo Ekitike (0-1, 37th), Validmir Petkovic tried to create a first shock by making no less than three changes at the break, not hesitating to leave Laurent Koscielny and Rémi Oudin. But it is an incoming Reims, Bradley Locko, who made the break four minutes after his entry, with a superb strike from the left (0-2, 63rd).

So, the Swiss technician used a new wild card by launching Jimmy Briand. And what a joker. The center of the former Lyon, deflected to the far post, first benefited Yacine Adli (1-2, 73rd). Then he superbly concluded a service low to the ground from Samuel Kalu – launched at the break – on a free kick (2-2, 78th). In the final seconds, the same two actors did it again. Samuel Kalu’s strike, countered by hand by Wout Faes, allowed Briand to capsize Matmut Atlantique on a penalty (3-2, 95th). Bordeaux, now 16th, passes in front of its opponent of the day (17th) in the standings.

  • What we remember: Jimmy Briand had only played 92 minutes in Ligue 1 so far. We hope for Bordeaux that it is Vladimir Petkovic, more than us, who will retain him.

Strasbourg – Lorient: 4-0

It was a party at La Meinau. All thanks to a sacred trio. Untenable this Sunday, Ludovic Ajorque (29th), Habib Diallo (39th, 45th) and Adrien Thomasson (64th) delighted the Strasbourg public after an idyllic game. For Lorient, it was a long ordeal with in particular the injuries of Stéphane Diarra and Moritz Jenz. Julien Stéphan’s men took the opportunity to climb to 7th place, thanks to an attractive home record (4 wins out of 7 matches). The Merlus are 13th.

  • What we remember: That this trio will do more damage this season …

Montpellier – Nantes: 2-0

It’s a victory that will do good for the people of Montpellier. Not necessarily always sovereign against Nantes, Olivier Dall’Oglio’s men were able to count on a Jonas Omlin and his duo Florent Mollet – Téji Savanier to make the difference. Shortly after the hour of play, the second struck and tried his luck, forcing Alban Lafont to clear Mollet who was able to conclude closely (1-0, 64th). What to facilitate a scenario and to pique against.

Just entered the game, the very young Elye Wahi doubled the stake after a good service from Jordan Ferri (2-0, 71st). All before Savanier broke the bar with a superb free kick (74th). In short, Montpellier finished better than it had started. Here is the 11th Hérault, just behind their victim of the day.

  • What we remember: that the individuals of Montpellier should allow them to aim higher.
