(VIDEO) Leylah, 19, arrived today at the Pearl of the Pacific to support her sister, Bianca, 17, who competes in the ITF tournament.

She tried to keep her stay in Guayaquil discreet, but the fame she achieved for her exceptional participation in the US Open 2021, in which she reached the final, made this Tuesday the Canadian-Ecuadorian Leylah Fernández the center of attention in the National Club.

Leylah, 19, arrived today at the Pearl of the Pacific to support her sister, Bianca, 17, who competes in the ITF Professional tournament, combined W25 M25, organized by the Ecuadorian Tennis Federation (FET).

Leylah spoke with Kenny Castro, a specialist in coverage of tennis tournaments in the country, and said: “After four years I am going back to visit Ecuador and I hope to visit Guayaquil. I am with my sister to support her in the warm-up tasks prior to her games. I’m going to give Bianca a lot of positive energy, just like she gave me during the US Open ”.

“The love they have shown me, as well as tennis, has been incredible. I am very happy to see that love that people here show, ”the Canadian-Ecuadorian continued.

On his upcoming sporting challenges, Leylah revealed: “I’m going to prepare for the Australian Open. My preparation will start from November for that tournament ”.

EL UNIVERSO and other media tried to interview the young woman, but by decision of her father, Jorge, a former soccer player and his mentor in tennis, decided not to serve anyone at the National Club, he only agreed to take photos.
