“Let’s go, Brandon”, the massive trolling of Joe Biden that started at Nascar

It is on Twitter as a worldwide trending topic. Also on iTunes, where the song with that name has separated Adele from number one on the charts in the hip-hop category. And every time it is sung with more force in a multitude of sports venues. «Let’s go, Brandon», («Vamos, Brandon», in Spanish) is already a world motto adopted by the Americans against Joe Biden to troll and insult the president of the United States.

The beginning of this curious story is set in the Talladega Superspeedway, an Alabama racing circuit. There the pilot Brandon Brown on October 2 he achieved his first victory in the Nascar, the stock car championship par excellence in America. Brandon, 28, made his debut in the category and was interviewed shortly after the race by NBC, one of the largest television networks in the country, which owns the rights to Nascar. During the interview, conducted by the journalist Kelli from Stava, a crowd of fans began shouting insults at the President of the United States: “F *** you, Biden.” The chant that was sneaked into the broadcast, but Stavast said live that the crowd was praising the winner of the race with the now famous “Let’s go, Brandon.”

Little by little, as is often the case with these things, the slogan was gaining popularity among opponents of Biden, until it became an unstoppable gale on social networks. The Republicans had found a very subtle way to lash out and insult the president. Banners began to be seen in baseball and football stadiums, and the slogan began to be chanted during games. T-shirts began to be sold and Loza Alexander, a controversial rappers, took advantage of the pull to launch a song with that name that in a few hours became a hit.

The song reached number one in its category on iTunes this week, moving the hit hit away from that spot. Adele, before YouTube removed it from its channel alluding to its denial content with the pandemic.

The video of Stavast’s interview with Brandon Brown was posted on the official Nascar account for a few hours, although it was eventually deleted.
