Is real star Karim Benzema (33) now threatened with a hammer judgment?
Six years after the sextape scandal surrounding his French national team colleague Mathieu Valbuena (37), Real Madrid star Karim Benzema has to answer for complicity in a court in Versailles on Tuesday.
The striker, who is nominated for this year’s Ballon d’Or, faces five years in prison!
What happened?
The then French national team colleague Mathieu Valbuena was blackmailed with a sextape. Benzema is accused of complicity, he is said to have put pressure on his teammate to pay the blackmailer.
Benzema was kicked out of the national team and only returned to the 2018 world championship team this year before the European Championship.
It is still unclear whether he will appear in court in person. Real Madrid will play at Donetsk on Tuesday evening (9 p.m.). It is not yet clear whether Benzema will play.

One thing is certain, however: Valbuena and four other defendants will appear for the appointment, and Benzema lawyers will be on site in the Versailles courtroom.
Most recently it went well for Benzema, at least from a sporting point of view: In the Spanish La Liga, he leads the scorer list with nine goals from eight games.
Not the first court case to involve a player from the French national team. Benzema’s national team colleague and Bayern star Lucas Hernandez (25) also appeared in court on Monday to be informed that he would have to face a six-month prison sentence within ten days.
Reason: disregard of his ban on approaching his girlfriend at the time Amelia (34) in 2017. A punishment for a physical abuse against Amelia, with whom he is now reconciled and married.
However, the Bayern star announced that it would appeal.
