Judo for the blind is a sport specially set up for visually impaired athletes. The purpose of judo is to throw the opponent down or to the ground, to subdue the opponent through solid skills, or to force the opponent to surrender by using joint skills or twisting skills. Judo has been a regular event in the Paralympic Games since the 1988 Hancheng Olympics. In the 2004 Athens Paralympic Games, a new women’s competition was added. Participants are divided into 3 levels according to the degree of visual impairment and participate in the competition together. For visually impaired athletes participating in the competition, the minimum standard should meet the best corrected visual acuity of less than 0.1 or a visual field of less than 20 degrees. Set items according to the athlete’s weight, and the competition is divided into 13 levels.
