Judo Club Bad Zurzach wins AGV sports promotion award, 3rd place for FC Rheinfelden women’s team

(agv) In mid-February 2021, Aargauische Gebäudeversicherung AGV invited schools, school classes, clubs and associations to compete for the 2021 Sports Promotion Prize for the second time. We were looking for the most exercise-friendly school / school class, the most exercise-friendly club / association that continued to advocate exercise for young people and children during the corona pandemic and continues to do so.

Children and young people need exercise, that is part of the human nature. During the corona pandemic, however, face-to-face classes were partially suspended and sports facilities also had to close. The well-known and common opportunities for exercise and sport for children and young people were suddenly gone, and yet school material had to be learned and tasks solved.
Together with the Department of Education, Culture and Sport (BKS) of the Canton of Aargau, the AGV has taken into account the difficult conditions of the pandemic and is looking for exercise projects that schools, school classes, clubs or associations have launched despite or precisely because of the special situation. Today, Friday, the time had come for the AGV to award the cantonal sports promotion prize for the second time in a small but festive setting. A jury had previously viewed and rated the nine projects submitted. The jury was headed by Denise Widmer, AGV board member and general manager of the Elisabeth children’s home in Olten. The other four members were Christan Koch, sports officer and head of the sports section (BKS), Brigitta Luisa Merki, curator of tanz & kunst Koenigsfelden, Ueli Haller, mayor of Meisterschwanden and Michael Mülli, former editor of AZ-Medien.
The winning project will receive CHF 10,000. The second-placed project receives 3,000 francs and the third-place project receives 1,500 francs. But none of the contestants went away empty-handed. Anyone who is not on the podium receives a consolation prize. All competition participants present received a card game.

These are the winners of the AGV Sports Promotion Prize 2021:

Winner: Judo Club Bad Zurzach
The training of the judo club was interrupted due to the corona. However, those responsible did not simply want to accept the closure. With the JCBZ Challenges, the Judo Club Bad Zurzach has dedicated itself to a virtue of judo: “Taking responsibility – for me and my environment”. In the challenges, all aspects of the human body and mind were promoted and challenged. Groups were formed and the OC formulated new tasks for each week. At the end of the week, the group reported who had completed which tasks, and the OC took over the distribution of points. The participants collected points individually, but there were also family challenges to activate the whole family. The project was only ended when the training outside could be resumed. Because the challenges were so well received, they will be continued in a follow-up Judo + project. The project convinced the jury: The OC worked out the challenges with great dedication and handled the evaluation of points, and not only the club members were thought of, but also their family members. The project has thus also made a significant contribution to mental health.

2nd place: Glückszeit, jazz dance group of the Bremgarten Music School
In the Bremgarten Music School, children can visit a jazz dance group with Mrs. Christine Hell. They studied different dances together and performed them in “normal” times to a wide audience as part of parents’ performances. Because of Corona, an alternative form of presentation and stage had to be found. A corona-compliant solution was soon found – performing outdoors. And because many senior citizens were not allowed to leave their rooms in the old people’s home, it was soon clear where the performance should take place outdoors. The pupils were motivated outside to please the senior citizens and also the nursing staff inside. The jury welcomes the commitment of the teacher and thinks it is nice that the world was experienced offline in this project and that mutual joy was noticeable.

3rd place: Virtual training camp FC Rheinfelden “Women and Juniors”
In 2020, a training camp in Barcelona was planned for the active women team of FC Rheinfelden. But Corona first destroys the foreign project and later also the joint training camp on site. That is why the training camp was relocated to the virtual space. The focus was on fun and virtual social contacts among the members. The training camp was planned for 5 days, so there were five areas for the virtual training: coordination, strength and stamina, technical, tactical elements and mental strength. The participants recorded video and photos during the challenges. The team spirit was strengthened by this special shared experience and elements of the challenges during the virtual training camp have found their way into physical training and even into private life. In this project too, the jury was impressed by the fact that those responsible had faced the new situation and set up a different, yet great training camp
to have. In the event of another crisis, the participants could fall back on this acquired knowledge.

The House of Dance dance school from Unterentfelden accompanied the award ceremony with dance interludes. The duo from the tap dance group “Fantappers” under the direction of Sibylle Hartmann and the dance group “Special Edition” under the direction of Cinzia Mangolini, owner of the dance school, delighted the audience.
