Judo brings together 1,200 athletes in Avilés this weekend – Herrera at COPE Asturias

After the stoppage due to the pandemic, the Villa de Avilés judo tournament that fulfills his 20th edition with the participation of 1,200 judokas from 200 clubs.

The city is the seat of the Spanish Cup for the U-13 (Alevín), U-15 (Infant), U-18 (Cadet) and U-21 (Junior) categories.

A competition that takes place in the Quirinal Sports Complex, safe thanks to a complete security protocol against COVID-19, which includes testing all participants before and during the tournament.

Four tatami mats will host the matches that will determine the winners of the twentieth edition of Villa de Avilés de Judo. On Saturday 30, starting at 9:00 a.m., around 310 judokas will participate in the Spanish Super Cup bouts in the U-18 (Cadet) category, while in the U-21 (Junior) category, some 200.

Already on Sunday 31st, starting at 9:00 a.m., the nearly 300 participants in the Spanish Super Cup in the U-15 (Children’s) category will take over, while the youngest, the judokas from the Under-13 category (Alevín), they will be in charge of putting the finishing touch to this edition competing for teams. About 200 judokas will participate in the bouts of this last category.
