Jonas finishes the Spanish Grand Prix in sixth place

Latvian motorcyclist Pauls Jonas from the “Gas Gas” team won the sixth place in the MXGP class on Sunday in the 13th stage of the World Motocross Championship – the Spanish “Grand Prix”.

Jonas finished the first race in the sixth place, but in the second race he finished in the fifth place, which gave the sixth place in the overall standings.

In the second race, the Spanish driver Jorge Prado took the lead at the start, but Jonas started the fight for the third place, lagging behind the Dutch Jeffrey Herling. After making a mistake, Jonas slipped to fifth place and was only 0.5 seconds behind the Italian Antonio Kairoli, but the difference widened during the trip.

In the middle of the journey, Herlings drove closely behind leader Prado, looking for an opportunity to take the lead, and after Prado’s mistake, he did so. Continuing his journey, Herlings only increased his lead, quickly overtaking the Prado by four seconds.

Slovenian Tim Gayser took another Prado mistake in another turn and climbed to the second position, but Kairoli also fought persistently for the place in the top three. In the last two laps, however, Prado managed to defend the third position.

Herlings finished first, Guyers was 4.28 seconds behind, and Prado finished the top three, 11.71 seconds behind the first place winner. Jonas was 19.5 seconds behind the first place winner.

In the Spanish stage, Herlings took first place with 45 points, Prado took second place with 52 points, and Gayser took 40 points and third place. Jonas, on the other hand, scored 31 points at this stage.

Herlings is in the leading position with 505 points in the overall championship of the World Championship, the Frenchman Roman Fever is in the second position with 493 points, and Guyers finishes the best three with 490 points. The Latvian rider is in the seventh place in the overall rating with 352 points won.

There are five more stages left this season, and the next three will take place in Piedmont, Italy.

In the previous stage, which took place at the Lakapella Marival in France, Jonas won sixth place.

Slovenian motorcyclist Tim Gayser was crowned MXGP champion for the third time last year, while Jonas, who suffered a serious injury in the summer, was ranked 31st.

There are 18 stages in the MXGP class this season. The end of the season is scheduled for November in Italy.

On Saturday, the race was held by drivers in the EMX125 class of the European Championship. Kārlis Alberts Reišulis took the 13th place in the qualifying race, but Roberts Lūsis – the 29th place in the competition of 38 riders, entering the main competition.

In the first race of the competition, Reišulis finished in the tenth place, but Lūsis took the 22nd place. In the second race, Reišulis took the seventh place, but Lūsis – in the 25th place. With 25 points in the overall rating of the stage, Reišulis took the tenth place, but Lūsis was left without points, ranking 30th in the competition of 39 riders.

The victory with 43 points was won by the Dutchman Ivano van Erps.

In the overall evaluation of the championship after five stages, Reišulis takes the 13th place among the participants with 49 points with 69 points. The leader with 174 points is Italian Valerio Lata.
