KocaeliRepresenting Turkey in the Basketball Women’s Super League, UMF Yapı İzmit Belediyespor introduced its strengthened staff that it is preparing to enter the new season. Izmit Mayor Fatma Kaplan attended the introductory meeting held in a cafe in a shopping mall in Izmit. Liberty, Club President Uğur Koştur, technical team, athletes and managers of sponsor companies attended. Speaking at the meeting, President Hürriyet stated that the success of the women’s basketball team is very important for Izmit. Stating that valuable names joined the team despite a modest budget, Hürriyet said, “Despite our modest budget before the new season, we have added many valuable names to our team. We think that having our experienced and young friends together in the team will lead to a good harmony in terms of team spirit.”

Underlining that all necessary support will be given to UMF Yapı İzmit Belediyespor by the İzmit Municipality, Mayor Hürriyet stated that the team’s achievements are very important for İzmit and said, “We represent our city in the top classification in the Women’s Basketball Super League. In this sense, we are proud and happy. We are also at the top of amateurs. Our UMF Yapı İzmit Belediyespor Women’s Basketball team has achieved great success since we took office. It played the final in the Women’s Basketball Super Cup for the first time in its history. Qualifications for 4 were played in our city. We hosted the important teams of Romania, Spain, Hungary in Izmit. Izmit Belediyespor successfully emerged from these eliminations and qualified to play in Euroleague Women for the first time in its history. This success is very valuable for us, this effort is for us it was a very valuable success for the promotion of our city.
