Isabel Huitrón yearns for gold in the 2021 Judo World Championship for the Deaf, El Siglo Coahuila

The first Mexican to win a gold medal in the Olympic Games, Maria Isabel Huitrón Angeles, is preparing to face the 2021 World Judo Championship for the Deaf, which will be held from October 27 to 30 in Versailles, France, with the participation of 319 judokas from 27 nations.

“We are going for the gold, that is my dream of always winning gold and raising Mexico up,” declared the national team -48 Kg category.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the World Cup initially scheduled for April 14 to 19, 2020, was postponed, but that did not prevent the Mexican from continuing with her preparation.

“It has been too difficult for me, because throughout this year I have had ups and downs, but that does not stop me, I always have the support of my family, friends, teammates and coaches motivate me to keep going,” acknowledged the representative of Guanajuato.

Currently judoka is being prepared in the city of Celaya, with the coach Daniel Merced Granados Calderón, who will accompany her to the competition, along with a physiotherapist. “My teammates are supporting me in this to be one hundred percent in the World Cup, we work hard to do our best on the tatami.”

At the World Cup in France 2021, 13 competitors in the -48 kg category will be presented and it will be the last commitment of the year for the Mexican, who will travel to France on October 24.

In 2022, Isabel Huitrón will have her second date at the Deaf Olympics, just that it is scheduled in Brazil, with a date to be determined.
