Is there another big scandal over Serie A? 62 transfers investigated | Serie A

The Italian Football Association is launching an investigation into 62 transfers in the period between 2019 and 2021. Players are said to have been overestimated for accounting reasons.

When exchanging players, it is difficult to establish a precise market value that clubs could take advantage of.

Juventus would be involved in 42 of the 62 transfers investigated. But the most high-profile transfer mentioned is that of ex-Charleroi player Victor Osimhen from French club Lille to Napoli last year.

Napoli is said to have paid €71.25 million for the striker, but the deal also involved four players who turned the other way around to France.

Orestis Karnezis, Claudio Manzi, Ciro Palmieri and Luigi Liguori, do the names mean anything to you? According to the deal between Lille and Napoli, they were worth 20.13 million euros together. But the last two have already returned to Italy where they both play in the Serie D – the fourth division.

According to Italian media, Covisoc, the regulator of Serie A clubs, has sent a detailed report to the prosecutor and Gabriele Gravina, the president of the Italian Football Association.
