Shortly after the kick-off between England and Hungary, incidents broke out in the visitors’ section between a group of 1,000 Hungarian supporters, who had gathered in a corner of the stadium.
Dozens of heavy boys attacked the stewards, after which they left the box. In the end, the police had to come to the scene to restore order. That was not without a struggle.
“Several persons who were on the scene have since been identified by security agents and have been banned from attending sporting events for two years,” said Jeno Sipos, spokesman for the Hungarian Football Association, without specifying how many people are involved.
In September, when England beat Hungary in Budapest, the match was also marred by racist chants against the likes of Raheem Sterling and Jude Bellingham. The English players also got all kinds of things thrown at them.
For those incidents, the Hungarian Football Association has already been ordered to play two home games behind closed doors.
